The chips
- Every guest receives the same play-money stack at no charge.
- Chips cannot be bought, sold, traded or exchanged, at any point of the evening.
- There are no stakes at any table.
- No prize of monetary value is awarded, and chips stay on the tables at close.
Why play money
Gatsby Evening is a dinner and a show with the atmosphere of a 1920s casino night. The tables exist for the fun of the game and the company around them. Because nothing is staked and nothing of monetary value can be gained, the tables are not gambling, and the ticket price pays only for the dinner, the show and the ballroom.
The event tables are set up in the ballroom for the night and are separate from the resort's gaming floor. Nothing at Gatsby Evening involves real-money gaming.
Blackjack
The table most guests start at. Each player is dealt two cards against the dealer and aims for a hand closer to twenty-one than the dealer's without going over. Our dealers explain each decision as it comes up, so a first hand is as easy as a tenth.
Roulette
The wheel of the period, with a croupier who calls the table. Guests place their play-money chips on a number, a colour or a group of numbers before the ball is released. It is the most social table in the room and the easiest to join mid-round.
Poker
Texas Hold'em at a relaxed pace. Each player holds two cards and shares five on the table, building the best hand over several rounds. The dealer runs the table and walks newcomers through every step, so no experience is needed.
Table manners
- Every table is open to every guest; take a seat whenever one is free.
- Dealers set the pace and have the final word on the rules at their table.
- Leave whenever you like. No one is ever encouraged to keep playing.
- The tables are for adults aged 18 and over, like the whole evening.
